Joypurhat Government College is the highest educational institution of Joypurhat. The college was established 1963 and is located near Joypurhat Railway Station. It is a National University College with the college code is 2801. The college was nationalized in 1980.
Joypurhar is a small northern district in Bangladesh surrounded by Dinajpur in the north, Bogra in the south, Gaibandha in the east and Naogaon and West Bengal of India in the west. It is just 12 km away from the historic Buddhist Bihar at Paharpur which is the largest Buddhist monastery bearing the glory and mystery of Buddhist civilization. Although small in size, Joypurhat is enriched with ethnic diversity and various sorts of natural and mineral resources. It is the sacred ground of Islamic saint popularly known as Hazrat Nimai Pir. Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani, Great leader of Bangladesh as well as the third world countries, took many historic decision staying in Joypurha.
